Recent studies have also shown similar alluvial chronologies in northern Africa, which appear primarily driven by rapid climate change events but with sedimentation response being intensified by anthropogenic impact ( Faust et al., 2004 and Schuldenrein, 2007). Studies to the east from the Levant to India have largely been part of archaeological investigations and have focussed on climatic influences on early agricultural societies.
